Melissa VanAlstine

Melissa began working in the animal care field upon graduating with distinction from St. Lawrence College as a Veterinary Assistant in 2011. Melissa also attended St. Clair College where she received her diploma in Business-Accounting and Olds College where she received her certificate in Veterinary Practice Management. In 2023, she obtained her designation as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) with the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association.

Growing up in Perth with a large family and lots of animals, Melissa enjoys a busy environment that is often present within veterinary care. She has been working at Blueberry Creek Veterinary Hospital since the doors opened in March 2012. Melissa sees her role as the manager to be a bridge between veterinary medicine and operating a business, focusing on being a constant support to the team to provide opportunities for learning and growth.

Over the years she has fostered and adopted many animals, which currently consist of 2 Golden Retriever/Labs (Jack & Tucker), and a domestic short-haired tabby (Elliott). Melissa loves spending her spare time with her husband and 3 young daughters, often outdoors, whether it be tobogganing in the winter or kayaking in the summer.
