Ticks, Lyme and Parasites

Parasite Prevention & Control

A variety of parasites can affect your pet, and they’re more than just a nuisance, they can threaten both their health and yours. As parasites pose such a serious risk, we recommend year-round prevention. With today’s unpredictable weather patterns driving equally unpredictable parasite populations, unprotected pets remain vulnerable to infection in every season, even winter.

Fleas can cause severe itching, skin problems, and allergies. Ticks, which are prevalent in our area, can carry a number of diseases, including Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis, that can make you and your pet very sick. Intestinal parasites can cause severe gastrointestinal problems, dehydration, and may also threaten your health.

During your pet’s annual wellness visit, we can screen for intestinal parasites and tick-borne diseases. We also offer safe, effective parasite preventives tailored to your pet’s lifestyle, including monthly, every-three-months, and year-long injectable options for flea and tick protection.
