Laura Puchacz

Registered Veterinary Technician

Laura was born in North Bay and raised in Ottawa. From an early age, she knew she wanted to work in a job that involved advocating for and helping animals. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa, she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and graduated from Algonquin College’s Veterinary Technician Program in 2015. In 2017, she and her husband bought their first home and escaped from the hustle and bustle of the city – they now call Merrickville home.

In her 9 years of practice, she has had the opportunity to broaden her skills in small animal, mixed animal, and mobile veterinary practices. Within the past year, she has also become Fear Free Certified and hopes to continue to use these methods of practice with every patient she meets. Laura has a keen interest in palliative care for senior pets, nutrition, laboratory work, and providing client education whenever the opportunity arises.

At home, she and her husband care for their two dogs Coraline and Jack (the one-eyed wonder), a pet tarantula named Quentin Tarantoola, and a small flock of chickens. When not at work, Laura enjoys reading, puzzling, fishing, biking, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
